About Artist:

Saru Prajapati is a traditional Paubha artist based in Khokana, Lalitpur. She trained for five years under the mentorship of artist Vijay Sarga, grounding her practice in the rich lineage of Paubha painting. Through decades of observation and immersion in this sacred art form, she approaches her work as both a philosophical exploration and a devotional practice woven into daily life.

Saru believes that art is inseparable from the community—that every step and action is shaped by culture, history, and shared values. To her, art is a quiet yet powerful force capable of inspiring meaningful change and opening future possibilities within a community through the language of color.

She received a Special Award in Traditional Art at the National Art Competition organized by the National Academy of Fine Arts in 2072. Saru is also the co-founder of Kala Aakar Studio, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness and offering workshops that celebrate traditional art and its enduring values.
