Revving Resilience by Sushila Gurung

Purnima Napit – Juggling a woman’s life in man’s world

“A woman’s hand is meant to be in the kitchen, not fixing motorbikes in a workshop”

Purnima never let these words stop her from becoming the mechanic that she is. A doting mother of a 13-year-old girl, Purnima’s zest for life is infectious.

Much to the questioning and curious eyes of her neighbors, she started working in her own motorbike workshop two years ago. Her husband owned and operated the workshop but when he started frequently falling sick, she took charge of the workshop and learned all the skills from him.

Purnima keeps herself active and is the workforce of her workshop, handling problems with any kind of motorbike that comes her way. Her strength and happiness shine through as she navigates both the challenges of running a business and caring for her family.

Her story is one of resilience and determination, and inspiration to those around her.
